The new year started out with crackers in Germany. With the Germans celebrating like we celebrate Samvat in North India and Deepavali in South India. Fireworks and sweets akin to both, but, no, the stock market does not work here.😂 After celebrations came the so-called "stressful" part- Examinations. Having done them to my best extent, it was back to "enjoyment" time with a little, quite town of Goslar on my itinerary.

At the foothills of the Harz mountains, near the snow-capped Bad Harzburg, lies the town of Goslar.

Goslar was one of the many towns with its own king and hence, is called the old imperial city, with earliest records of existence of the city dating to late 10th century but records of mining activity from as early as 3rd century AD during the Roman times. Probably the calmest cities in the country, understandable as it served as the Pensionopolis or residence for retirees in late 19th century.
Enter the city and you are welcomed by a placard in its "pet" name. But if I had to give the city a name, it would be City of museums, Stadt der Museen. As you enter the city, by far the broadest motor-able road is the ZOB or the city centre which includes the railway station. 😅 The attractions of the city can easily be covered by foot but city transport is available to every nook and corner of the city.
As you wander around the main station road, one will find a small, beautiful amphitheatre. You have successfully entered back in time.
The city is laden with old houses, giving us a peak into the German architecture. The fact that the city was rarely attacked in the wars has helped in the preservation of the centuries old buildings.
First stop, Moenchehaus Museum, or the Monk's house museum of art.
According to me, the building's architecture is similar to the ones you find in Kerala.
After the art museum, a short walk takes us to the palace.
